Puring the h.stilities in Hongkong - in Peuamber 1941 "Rosary Hill" Home (then called "St. Albert's Convent") was ccoupled og andreds of British Troops, end finally vacaled only on 25th February 1942. Considerable gange was done to the Building on it: fittings during this cooapetion.

Prom February 1942 until the middle of September 1943, there were about 30 ominican Fathers and Students staying in the Home.

In the course of september/October 1942, about 700 persons and er the charae of this Delegation moved into the "Home" which number was gradually reduced to about 150 persons by the middle of 1945.

On 2 nd Catober 1945, the "Home" was requisitioned by tile British Quartering Commandant, for the as of "Civilian Repatriates and hestitate Persons"; the number of these people at times wout es high as 500; at presant there are still 157 persons in the Home.

a copy of my letter to, Lieut. Col. #. KAY, dated 30th March 1946; these two lettera contain all otuer particulars I orald anefully provide, except that at the bottom f the first page of my letter of 5th Zarah I should have added, under e) "Civilian Internees".

In view of the failure of my attempt to arrange a lump-sum acttlement, and as the Hongk ng Jelegation of the I.A.0.0. obviously ested in regard to "Rosary Hill" on be half of ...'s Government &/or the British deacross, I am now of the opinion that the British ar-Office &/or Colonial Office &/or Recross &/or Hongkong Government should either arrange for the reconditioning of the Home, through the P... or the Relief Section of bas Hongkong Government, or, alternatively, try to cone

to occe to & lump-sum settlement on e different basis.

Owing to pressure of work in connectionika my Company's business, and in view of my aperture for shanghei to-morrow, until evout the end of the year, I regret that I can no longer give my personal et entin to this meter and I sincerely trust, therefore, but the British Autho ities vill find rays and means of settling this matter oireet with the Spanish Fathers.
